Kyoto Alti Dance Company, Delphic Games 2009

Like seedlings through the soil or a sunbeam at daybreak, graceful women paint the darkness with life. From the balcony I could see choreographed patterns flow from one to the next. As with most Japanese artistry, geometric shapes and simple organic forms were designed into the dance. An underexposed image highlights the expressive feeling of the dancers’ hands while their black gowns disappear into the background.
